As soon as it all gets back to normal

As you can see, foraging is a little hard for me at the moment with the covering of snow that has been with us pretty much since before Christmas, but as soon as the snow has cleared I am sure that everything will start sprouting out of the ground ready for me to take a small amount to feed me. I am looking forward to collecting the first few leaves of nettles for a few things I have been thinking about, I will of course be trying nettle tea and a few other things too, I hope you will like them and even give them a try a some point.

A new year and a new way

2010 is going to be a good year I hope.

2010 is going to the be year where I try live as much as possible of the land. This is not to say that I am going to go hungry and not eat if the harvest of wild grown foods are unavailable, but where i can I will be using what I can from the wild.
Last year we moved to the stunning Golden Valley in Herefordshire, UK. I tried some foods that I had never tried before, such as pigeon, pheasant and various salads and herbs, but this year thought I would document what and how I fed my family from the land.
Throughout my blog I will be adding recipes and techniques on how to catch , kill, gut and prepare foods from the land.

I hope you will enjoy my blog and even try a few of my recipes.
